I was born in Dallas in 1965, and I grew up in Mesquite, Tx. In the early part of my life, I was very sick and most of the time I couldn’t play outside so my loving parents would always buy me books to keep me occupied.
By the time I was about twelve my side of the bedroom looked like a mini library. I can say now that being sick as a child was a great blessing, because if it wasn’t for all those books I read, I don’t think I would have ever been a good artist or writer.
Ever since fifth grade I have always loved to draw. But it wasn’t until my time at Eastfield Community College after taking many history classes, drawing classes and art history classes that my passion for wanting to create original art took off. It was as if I was having my own personal Renaissance.
Getting increasingly confident with my art skills, besides drawing people and everyday scenes, I decided to try my hand at making a single panel cartoon in the humorous style of Gary Larson's, The Far Side. Soon after doing several satirical and silly single panels, a fellow student friend name Drew who had seen my cartoon art told the newspaper editor about my work. The editor then approached me and asked me to meet him in his office. And after showing him my cartoons he made me one of the cartoonists for the student newspaper. Later, in 1991 in the Dallas region, I won third place for my single panel cartoons in the Texas intercollegiate Press Association Awards. Later in my time at this community college I also in Mesquite, Tx. In the early part of my life, I was very sick and most of the time I couldn’t play outside so my loving parents would always buy me books to keep me occupied.

After college I waited tables at various restaurants then worked at Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom as a salesperson in the women’s shoe department. During college and among the times when I was working at these various jobs, I took long road trips through most of the U.S. states and visited several countries abroad.
Besides the hectic thrill and challenge of coming up with great but original art and making a good living on something I like to do; there is a long-term reason why I started taridge.com. Besides being an artist, I have also written four books and twenty short stories.
Three of the books that I have written are about a humorous series called, The Chronicles of the Prairie Dog Nation. In short, this series is about a large colony of intelligent walking and talking prairie dogs that have their very own independent republic north of Amarillo, Tx that is about the size of Delaware. This republic of prairie dogs is always having to battle against the political and military humans who want to take their lands away because there is something below their country that is extremely valuable.
It is my goal to independently turn my prairie dog books into an animated series or a string of movies. In other words, I want to make sure that my work does not get bastardized or watered down by the movie studios. I really don’t care about Hollywood these days. Most of their movies are old reboots that are boring and contrived.
